Naproxen is a pain relief treatment with anti-inflammatory properties. It is often used to treat pain in the joints, such as those associated with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and gout.

Naproxen can also be used to relieve period pain.

Naproxen 250mg and Naproxen 500mg are available to buy online from our online pharmacy. If you are unsure which dose is most appropriate for you, our online doctor can determine a suitable dose.

How does Naproxen work?

Naproxen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These drugs are used to reduce pain and inflammation in the body.

Naproxen works by blocking an enzyme in your body responsible for making chemicals called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are made in response to tissue damage and, when present, cause pain and inflammation.

By blocking a specific enzyme called cyclo-oxygenase (COX), the production of prostaglandins in the body is reduced which in turn relieves pain and inflammation.

While you may feel better an hour after taking Naproxen, it may take several days of taking Naproxen regularly in order for it to reach its peak effectiveness.

How do I take Naproxen?

Naproxen tablets are taken twice daily with or after food, such as a meal or snack. Each tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.

You should take the smallest quantity of Naproxen for the shortest amount of time. Our online doctor will prescribe the most suitable dose for you during your consultation.

Can I take Naproxen with other medicines?

You should not take naproxen with other pain relief, such as Ibuprofen, but you can take naproxen with paracetamol or over-the-counter opioid medication, such as Tramadol, for short amounts of time.

If you are not sure what you can take Naproxen with, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.

Before you buy Naproxen online through our private prescription service, please inform our online doctor of all the medicine you are currently taking, including those prescribed to you by your doctor or bought over-the-counter, including health and herbal supplements.
